We’ve discovered a really exciting new solution for people taking Colchicine for gout who finally want to get off the roller coaster!

Joe Barton, a leading researcher in health and alternative medicines has recently compiled a ground-breaking new report on the treatment of gout without the use of colchicines called The Gout Remedy Report.

According to Joe, the symptoms of gout can be minimized, if not totally eliminated without the harsh side effects of colchicines, or the dangers of NSAID pain relievers and corticosteroids once and for all!

Are you taking Colchicine for any of these gout symptoms?

- Intense pain in the joints (often the big toe).

- The feeling of heat or throbbing in the joints.

- Joint swelling and redness.

- Allodynia (extreme pain to the touch).

- Sudden, acute attacks of arthritis.

If you said yes, it is important for you to know that you are not alone!

Gout affects nearly 60 million people worldwide, particularly men over 35, though women over 50 are particularly susceptible.

Until now, Colchicine has been seen as a savior for those looking for relief of gout symptoms, and for many people it does an adequate job.  Many believe that because it is derived naturally, that it will be for the most part safe, and lacking in side effects.

It is true, Colchicine is in fact derived from a natural plant, however, it is hardly free from adverse effects on the body.

The list of side effects to this “natural” drug are pretty impressive.  The fact is that it is relatively toxic to your body.  This can be seen in the ways that the body reacts when taking it.  Nearly 80% of those taking the medication for an acute attack of gouty arthritis have experienced effects such as the following:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Stomach Pains
  • Cramping
  • Loss of Appetite

The question then becomes, what is more important?  The effects this drug can cause, or relief from gout symptoms?

Gout-Foot
Could Colchicine even help this foot?

But wait, it gets even worse!

Colchicine, which has literally been around for thousands of years in one form or another for the treatment of various ailments including gout is now being regulated by the FDA.  Recently one manufacturer was given sole rights to sell the drug inside of the United States.

Now remember, this was initially a drug which was available to anyone over the counter for a cost of approximately 10 cents per pill.  Now, those without insurance in the US can expect to pay upwards of $4.00 per pill for relief of their gout symptoms.

The fact is that, even at $4.00 a pill, one is still receiving what would be considered a drug that has sub-standard results in its efficacy, as well as a whole host of side effects that almost make the treatment worse than the disease itself.

As a sufferer, you can continue on down this path, or for information on naturally controlling the pain and inflammation of gout, using just 3 items you can purchase at the grocery store, Click Here.

The Birth of Colchicine for Gout Treatment

A Greek doctor of the second century named Aretaeus once stated that “there is no other hurt more terrible than this, not even iron bolts, nor cords, nor the wound from a blade, nor a blazing fire”.

For the seventeenth century physician Thomas Sydenham, it was a brutal stretching and ripping of the ligaments, now it is a biting pain similar to that of a dog.  How excruciating it must have been!  This may sound unrealistic. However, as agonizing as it may sound, this disease has been actively affecting people for thousands of years now.

Gout, as it is called, is a rheumatological disease that crops up when there is an excess uric acid in the body, resulting in the development of urate crystals that build up in the tissues of the body, especially in the joints.

In spite of this, it was not long after the birth of this enemy when a certain cure came to rescue the throbbing people. Along with the advancement of science came also the helpful medicines such as colchicine medication. This familiar drug has been hauled out from the dried corns and seeds of Colchicum autumnale (autumn crocus), a meadow saffron that grows in Colchis on the Black Sea.

What Gout Feels Like

During the first century CE, Pedanius Dioscorides described the likelihood of the extract of colchicine  as a gout remedy in his De Materia Medica. The year 1820 was momentous for it was when the pharmacologically active constituent of the plant was isolated by two French chemists P.S. Pelletier and J. Caventon. It was during that time that colchicine was prepared purely; though by the seventeenth century those plants were already used in Europe to heal gout.

Colchicine treatment has been around for over 2,000 years now. But just in the last fifty years has this most painful type of arthritis turned out to be a forgotten disease, as it became widely obtainable in the form of tablet in western countries on the middle of 1900s. Colchicines became accessible by the Food and Drug Administration and consequently allowed to be distributed in December of 1939 by pharmacists.

While Colchicine treatment has been the predominant method for the last 2,000 years, it has its own set of problems, particularly the side effects of the drug and the ever rising costs of treatment.  We will examine those topics in the next blog entry.

Does Colchicine provide serious pain relief from gout?

Colchicine is employed to prevent gout pain symptoms (abrupt, significant pain in one or more joints brought on by unusually increased levels of the chemical known as uric acid in the system) in adults, and to minimize the pain associated with gouty arthritis attacks once they take place. Colchicine isn’t a pain reducer and can’t be utilized to treat soreness that’s not attributable to gout.

Colchicine is inside a category of prescription drugs designated anti-gout agents. It functions by blocking natural systems that create swelling as well as other symptoms of gout arthritis. Take it only as directed. Do not change your dosage amount or frequency without speaking to your doctor. Do not eat grapefruit or drink grape fruit juice during your treatment using colchicine for gout. Never allow anybody to take your relief medication.
